Chanca Piedra is the Spanish name given to the herb Phyllanthus niruri, native to the Amazonian jungles. Chanca Piedra means “stonebreaker,” which is reflected in its traditional use, which may assist in the treatment of kidney, gallbladder, and tonsil stones.
Research indicates that Chanca Piedra may reduce calcium levels in the urine, promoting bile flow through the gallbladder and inhibiting the formation of calcium oxalate crystals that make up kidney and gallbladder stones, allowing them easier passage.
